Company: Hungry Jack’s is franchise of the international Burger King Corporation. They opened their first store in Perth in 1971 when flared trousers, large sideburns and Pink Floyd were all the rage. Within ten years they had grown to 26 stores in 3 states. Today Hungry Jack’s is one of the most iconic food brands. Hungry Jack’s are committed to the development of their employees, through training and development, helping them retain their employees and generate a passionate company culture.

Summary:Hungry Jacks overhauled their process of managing and tracking training events from different spreadsheets and emails to sophisticated and effective online employee scheduling software. Training classes for this company are a big part of its operations. Hungry Jacks has been able to remarkably improve this process by doing it online saving time for all team members involved.

Did you require extensive training to use the training calendar tool?

We didn’t require extensive training. Initially it was very important for us to understand the concept of events and sessions. For example, basic management training calendar course is a 3 day class; we set the details up as an event and then enter all 6 (3 day session) that happen in a year.

What kind of events, do you schedule using the training calendar event tool?

We mostly schedule training classes and meetings.

How did you schedule events in the past?

We had an excel spreadsheet for each state, we then sent emails to all stakeholders each week detailing the upcoming 4 weeks of training classes. We had another excel sheet to track nominations, and another page to track training calendar changes.

How long did it take you to move from your previous process to this new employee scheduling software?

It took each training department state about 4 hours to load the training calendar, and all sessions, into the employee scheduling software. Our team then sent out a ‘How to use’ guide via email to all stores. Anyone that tried to then book by email was given instruction and coaching to book through JEDI (Our World Manager Platform). Overall employee scheduling and events was a very easy and smooth process.

What do you find to be one of the most convenient features of the training calendar tool?

There are many great features from the training calendar tool. Some that we would like to mention: the administration part of the booking, the ability to print attendance list, the ease of nominating.

Has this training calendar tool affected in any way the attendance to the events you have scheduled?

It has mostly helped with the management of the events, however we have always had good attendance since we have a user pay system.

What advice would you give to other users that are about to launch the training calendar tool or who are looking to start using the training calendar tool more effectively?

The system is very simple and effective so just start using it.
